• Initial work was with anorexic and bulimic clients, Joan developed a very successful storyboarding technique utilizing photography to assist models with body dysmorphia issues and to create a sense of empowerment and to support body positivity within the fashion and modeling industry.

Joan's photography has been seen in exclusive articles and images pertaining to theatre, travel and fashion. Her studio, Gainsboro, has existed since 1918, and is based in the beautiful city of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. Gainsboro serves a worldwide audience; it continues to provide a full range of commercial, legacy, and heirloom portraiture. The studio prides itself in preserving the importance of documenting, and cherishing your most precious memories.

Here at home she has been the in-house photographer for the world renowned CHHS Drama theatre team. A service spanning 11 years, providing imagery for literally hundreds of budding thespians. They perform incredible full scale Broadway productions under the directorship of the amazing, Jennifer Davies.

Joan travels and takes on many projects far and wide. Including Tribeca Film Festival in NYC and acting as house photographer for Couture Fashion Week twice per year since 2011. Joan also covers Style Fashion Week NYC and LA, Mercedes Fashion Week, (Now NYC Fashion Week) Miami Swim Week, and London Fashion Week. Her travel articles feature cities such as Los Angeles , Alaska, Disneyland, San Diego, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon and Canadian cross country editorial photography tours. Including Michigan, YC, Canadian Idol / Toronto; and many others.
